Stand allocation
Here you learn how to decide who stands where during a hunt. You can split the hunt into drives, pick which stands to use, place shooters yourself or let the app draw lots, and show the plan to the team when it is ready.
How it works
Stand allocation belongs to a group hunt in the calendar. Individual hunts and protective hunts also have Plan hunt details, but there you only choose the hunt leadership and area. It is made up of:
- Drives. A group hunt is always planned in drives, for example "Drive 1" from 8 to 10:30 and "Drive 2" after lunch. Each drive has its own time (or the whole day), area and stands. The first time you open the planner there is already one drive for each day of the hunt.
- Stands. The stands, towers, ground blinds and shooting lanes to use. They come from the team map.
- Roles. What each person does: shooter, dog handler, driver, hunt leader or other. Only shooters take part in the draw.
Requires organiser
The plan is made by the team's administrators, the hunt leader or whoever created the hunt. Other participants only see the plan once it is published.
Plan the stands
- Open the hunt in Calendar.
- Tap Plan hunt details under the Stand allocation heading.
- Under Hunt leadership, choose the hunt leader, deputy hunt leader, host and wounded game trackers. The host can be a member or a contact, for example the landowner. Tap Add wounded game tracker if you have more than one, and move them with the arrows so the one you call first is at the top. Only whoever created the hunt and administrators can change the hunt leader.
- Select a drive. Change its name, time or area if needed, or tap Add drive if the hunt is split into drives. Enter a name, pick the day, when the drive starts and ends, and ideally which area it covers.
- Select the drive and tap Choose stands. If the drive has an area, only stands and towers inside it are shown. If it has none, the hunt's area is used. Tick the stands you want, or tap Select all.
Only stands and towers can be chosen
The list shows places of type stand, tower, ground blind and shooting lane. Missing one? Add it to the map first.
The hunt's area
Each drive has its own area. The hunt's area follows the drives by itself: if every drive uses the same area it becomes the hunt's, otherwise the smallest hunting ground that holds them all. That is the area a live hunt starts on.
Place shooters yourself
Tap a stand and choose who should stand there. Every hunter on the team who has not declined is listed, including people who have not answered yet. You do not need to invite anyone first to plan the hunt ahead. If you choose someone who already has another stand in the same drive, they are moved here.
You can also add a comment to the stand, for example "only shoot towards the lake".
Draw lots
- Tap Draw.
- Turn on Avoid repeats if shooters should rotate between stands. Then choose how far back it counts:
- This hunt: earlier drives of the same hunt
- This season: every published hunt this season
- All earlier: every published hunt
- Under Who to draw, every shooter who has not declined is already ticked. Guests and landowners must be invited to take part. Untick anyone who should sit this draw out.
- Tap Draw.
Everyone gets a stand as long as there are enough. Having stood at a stand before never stops the draw; the app just prefers other stands. Anyone who still got a stand they have had before is marked Has had this stand before.
Stands you placed by hand are never redrawn. Drawing again only changes the drawn stands.
If someone has not said yes
If someone has a stand but has not answered yet, or has declined, organisers see a short warning on the hunt's page. The stand is marked Awaiting reply or Has declined. Open Plan hunt details and pick someone else if needed.
Roles
Who does what lists everyone's role. It starts from the team role: dog handlers are dog handlers, landowners and guests are other, everyone else is a shooter. Tap a person to change it.
With a drive selected, the change applies to that drive only. This suits teams where shooters and dog handlers swap between drives. Choose Same as the whole hunt to remove the change.
Publish
The plan is a draft until you tap Publish. Then every participant sees their stand on the hunt's page. Nobody gets a notification, so publish whenever it suits you. Changes after that show at once. Tap Unpublish to hide the plan again.
During the hunt
While a hunt from the calendar is running, the map shows the stand allocation for the drive in progress. Between drives it shows the next drive. Once the last drive is over, the map looks as usual again.
- Your stand has an orange ring. Tap the Your stand button at the top of the map for an arrow and the distance there.
- To hide the stands the drive does not use, turn on Only this hunt's stands in the filter.
- Organisers see who stands at each stand right next to its name.
- Tap a hunter on the map and their card shows which stand they should be at right now.
- Hunt focus makes the map calmer. Only the drive's stands, parking spots and gathering places stand out. Everything else is faded and loses its name, and the ground outside the drive gets a grey veil. While you navigate to your stand, only the stand, parking spots and gathering places stand out. Other hunters, dogs and no-shoot zones always show as usual. Tap the Hunt focus button to switch it off or on again.
See your stand
Open the hunt in Calendar. Under Stand allocation you see your own stand for each drive, and how many stands there are and how many are assigned. Tap Show all stands for the full list of who stands where.
