Switch from Bluehunt to Jaktli

Want to see the differences first?

Jaktli or Bluehunt? compares price, live hunts, dog tracking and map export side by side.

This guide shows how to move from Bluehunt to Jaktli.

You can bring your map with you as a file. Bluehunt says the map can be exported as GPX, and Jaktli reads that file directly. The rest of the team, such as members, calendar and contacts, you add by hand in Jaktli. It is quick, and we link to each step below.

Step 1: Set up your team in Jaktli

Start by downloading the app and creating or joining a hunting team. This is covered in Getting Started with Jaktli.

Short version:

  1. Download Jaktli from the App Store or Google Play, or go to jaktli.se
  2. Create an account with your email address
  3. Tap Create team and give the team a name

Step 2: Move the map across

Export from Bluehunt

  1. Sign in to Bluehunt
  2. Open your hunting ground and the map
  3. Choose to export the map as a GPX file
  4. Save the file on your computer

Import in Jaktli

You can import both on the web and in the app. Pick GPX in the import menu.

On the web (recommended):

  1. Sign in at jaktli.se and open Map
  2. Tap Import and pick GPX
  3. Choose the GPX file from your computer
  4. Confirm the import
  5. Tap Import again and choose Manage features. There you go through all markers and areas in a list and fix names and types at once, see Manage map features

In the app:

  1. Open Map and tap the + button
  2. Pick Import and then GPX
  3. Choose the GPX file from your phone
  4. Confirm the import

Stands and other points in the file become markers. A closed boundary becomes an area of the sub-area type, and an open line becomes a line. Change the type of the areas under Manage features if you want the hunting ground's boundary to be of the hunting area type.

More on this in Map.

Requires administrator role

Importing a map requires you to be a secretary or team lead.

If the boundaries are missing from the file

If the boundaries are missing from the file, or you want them exact, Jaktli can fetch them straight from Lantmäteriet (the Swedish mapping authority). All you need is the property designation:

  1. Find the property designation for the land, for example GÄVLE OLSBACKA 11:1
  2. Open Map in Jaktli
  3. Tap the + button and choose Import
  4. Pick Search property by designation
  5. Enter the designation and tap Search property
  6. Tap Save as areas

The full description is in Map.

If you do not have the designation, you can draw the boundary directly on the map in Jaktli. Every member except read-only members can draw on the map.

Step 3: Add the rest by hand

Whatever is not in the map file you add yourself. It usually takes an evening:

  • Invite the members so they join the team, see Members
  • Add hunts and work days to the calendar, see Calendar
  • Add contacts such as landowners and tracking providers, see Contacts
  • Upload the team's documents such as bylaws and lease agreements, see Documents

Start fresh

You do not need to bring several years of old markers. Bring only what applies today, and the map stays easier to read for everyone in the team.
