Version 1.13 is out

We have released version 1.13 of Jaktli. The biggest addition is bookings: the team can now book stands, towers, cabins and areas right in the app. On top of that, several hunts can run at once, the map has labels, and you can add observations to the hunt log after the hunt has ended.

Book stands, towers and areas

Many teams have places only one person can use at a time: a tower, a cabin, a feeding place or a whole section of ground. Now you can book them in Jaktli. An administrator opens the places for booking on the map. Then anyone in the team books in the new Bookings tile, or straight from the map, for a day or a set time.

The app keeps track of clashes. If the same place is already booked, the booking cannot be made. If your booking sits close to someone else's, for example a tower inside an area someone has booked, you are asked and can choose Book anyway if the team agrees. Bookings also show in the calendar, and whoever schedules a hunt over booked stands sees it clearly.

Several hunts at once

The team can now run several hunts at the same time, one per piece of ground. One drive can move in the north while another group sits on stands in the south, each with its own participant list, its own chat and its own hunt log. When you start a hunt you pick the area: all ground, one hunting ground or one sub-area.

Safety is unchanged. Everyone out in the team shows on the map whichever hunt they are in, and everyone counts in the safety warnings. When more hunts are running, the count shows on the map and on the Map tile on the home screen. Whoever started a hunt, or an administrator, can end another hunt from the hunt log, handy when someone forgot to stop.

Labels on the map

The team can now put its own labels on markers and areas, for example Moose, Drive 1 or Autumn hunt. A marker can have several labels. Tap Filter on the map and pick a label to show only what belongs to it. The label filter and the type filter work together.

An administrator creates the labels under Filter, at most twenty per team. On the web you can add or remove a label on many markers at once under Manage map features.

Markers can have a colour too. Every marker type has its usual colour, but you can give a single marker another one. Open the marker, tap Edit and choose under Colour: Default, Based on label or Custom. Based on label means the marker follows the colour of one of its labels, so recolouring the label recolours the marker. The colour is shown to the whole team.

When a label has a colour, an administrator can tap the brush next to it. Every marker with that label then gets its colour, so for example all stands labelled Moose turn green. On the web you can recolour many markers at once under Manage map features. Read more in the user guide.

Observations afterwards

Forgot to report a downed animal during the hunt? You can now add it to the hunt log afterwards. The observation then counts exactly as if it had been reported during the hunt: it shows on the map and in the timeline, it goes into statistics, and a downed animal lands in the harvest log. Secretaries and team leads can add on behalf of someone else, for example when the shooter did not have their phone along.

The hunt log map now draws the team's usual map under the tracks, with stands, towers and borders, so you know where you are. The Show on map button jumps to the moment the observation was made, so the pin is visible. The rows in the list show the number of animals and sex, and tracks show which sign it was, for example droppings. On the web you can also move an observation that ended up in the wrong place.

New roles, and more roles are free

Swedish hunting teams often have a board. So there are now the roles Chairman and Board member, both administrators, and Treasurer, a title with no extra permissions.

Four roles have become free: Tracking specialist, Landowner, Non-hunting guest and Farmer no longer take a paid seat. They see the team map, the hunts they are invited to and the chats that belong to them, just like a guest hunter, but nothing else.

If you already have members in one of those four roles, they now see less in the app than before. If one of them needs to see the whole team, an administrator changes the role to Member, which takes a seat. A table of what each role can do is in the user guide.

Changing a role is now confirmed before it is saved, and an administrator can no longer remove their own permissions by mistake.

Hunting rules

Hunting in another county? Tap the county at the top of Hunting rules and pick another one to see that county's dates. The choice is not saved, so next time your own county shows again.

The table is clearer. Each kind of rule shows in its own box: general season, protective hunting, the county board's decision and the team's own rule. The law text and the source are folded behind each row, tap the row to read them. Species that have a season in other counties but not in yours have their own group. The dates have also been corrected after a comparison with Svensk Jakt.

The map

Can you see the spot on the map? Press and hold it for a second and you can add an observation or a marker there, without aiming with the crosshair.

All imports now sit together under Import in the plus menu. When you pick a property on the map, the property boundaries switch on automatically so you can see where you are aiming. Sub-areas inside other areas can now be selected on the map.

Trails during the hunt

Behind every participant and dog the map draws a trail during the hunt. If it gets cluttered you can turn the trails off. Open Filter on the map and switch off Show my trail, Show others' trails or Show dog trails. Only the lines disappear. Positions and the no-shoot arrows show as usual. The choice is saved on your phone, and the rows only appear in the filter while a hunt is running.

Garmin dog tracking has also had several improvements.

The app could crash on Android when a screen was closed. That is fixed.

On the web

Team documents can be uploaded as a ZIP file, either as is or unpacked into folders. More file formats can be uploaded, including Excel, PowerPoint and map files such as GPX and KML. An administrator can download all documents at once. The web menu now uses the same names as the app, for example Members and My dogs. The user guide has its own support page.
