General hunting season for red fox in the hunting year 2026/27: 1 August to 15 March. Below: the law text per animal, the counties with other dates, and the decisions the county boards have published.

Protective hunting under annex 4
Protective hunting under annex 4 of the Hunting Ordinance may be carried out on your own initiative when the conditions of the item are met. It has no dates: the conditions must be met every time.

May be hunted when the animal enters a farmyard or garden and can cause damage or other nuisance there (item 2). May also be hunted temporarily on an island, islet or skerry (item 6); to protect the young of domestic animals and reindeer calves (item 7); young of the year may be hunted for game management (item 8); and at game-rearing facilities, poultry yards or similar within 200 m (item 13).
