Great cormorant hunting season 2026/27
Great cormorant has no general hunting season, but protective hunting is allowed under annex 4 of the Hunting Ordinance on the conditions stated below.
Protective hunting under annex 4
Protective hunting under annex 4 of the Hunting Ordinance may be carried out on your own initiative when the conditions of the item are met. It has no dates: the conditions must be met every time.
- All animals
1 August to 28 February
May be hunted at fixed and mobile fishing gear (not hand-held gear) and within 300 m of such gear, and in fish protection areas. Never closer than 300 m to a nesting site of cormorant, white-tailed eagle or osprey (item 19).
- All animals
all year
May be hunted at fish farms and stocking sites (within seven days before and after stocking) and within 300 m of them, but never closer than 300 m to a nesting site of cormorant, white-tailed eagle or osprey (item 19), and at airports (item 5).
